How can we tell the difference between genuine saffron & dyed stuff?

If you immerse dyed imitation saffron in water or milk, you will get the color very quickly and don?t feel pleased that this ?saffron? is good because it is the artificial dye coming off quickly.

With genuine saffron, the color develops only after soaking for few minutes and rubbing with a spoon. If the saffron is very cheap, be careful as it could be adulterated.
